How this Bible reading plan generator works

Reading through Scripture is simpler when you can see the whole journey on one page. This free tool spreads your chosen portion of the Bible evenly across the number of days you pick, then lays out a dated checklist. Tick a box each day and you'll always know exactly where you are — and how far you've come.

A few tips for staying with it

Most reading plans are abandoned in the first few weeks, not because the reader lost interest but because a couple of missed days turned into a backlog that felt impossible to clear. A six-day rhythm builds in margin on purpose. If you do fall behind, resist the urge to start over — just pick up on today's date and keep moving. Consistency over a year matters far more than a perfect record in January.

Reading with other people helps too. Print a copy for everyone in a small group, a family, or a couple of friends, and check in on what you're each noticing. The same passage read by several people almost always surfaces something you would have read straight past.

Which Bible translation should I use?

This planner lists chapters by reference (for example, John 1–3), so it works with any translation you already own or read in an app. The references are the same whether you read the KJV, ESV, NIV, CSB, or any other version, so use whichever translation you find easiest to understand and most enjoyable to read.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Bible reading plan really free?

Yes. There's no charge, no account, and no email required. Build as many plans as you like and print each one.

Does the plan get emailed to me or saved online?

No. Everything is generated right in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. To keep a plan, print it or use your browser's "Save as PDF" option.

How many chapters a day is reading the whole Bible in a year?

The Bible has 1,189 chapters, so a 365-day plan averages a little over three chapters a day. The exact reading for each day is shown in your generated plan.

Can I read the Bible in 90 days?

Yes — choose the whole Bible and a 90-day length. That's a faster pace of roughly thirteen chapters a day, which many people enjoy for the "big picture" it gives. If that's too much, six months is a gentler alternative.

What if I miss a few days?

Don't start over. Continue on today's date, and consider using the six-day rhythm so Sundays are free to catch up. Finishing slightly late is still finishing.
